The long awaited summer season has arrived and we're all set for the BBQ parties, days out to beaches and parks, nights out to clubs and bars, early morning walks and weekends dedicated to the gardens. Whatever you've got planned for the heatwave, it is essential to be sun safe. Sun lotions, after sun care, sun glasses and sun hats, bring it all out and put it all on! I've already ignored my own advice and am now currently dealing with skin irritation thanks to heat rash, sun burn and excema all in one! I've gone to the pharmacy but the cream I've been given isn't treating my burns and irritation at all! So I turned to my good friend google and carried out some research, and put it to the test! Here's what I found worked:
Yoghurt: Applying natural yoghurt over the affected area helps balance out the skins ph levels. It cools the area making it less irritable. Although it may smell rather nasty, it does help you sleep better at night. And within a few days, the irritation should hopefully disappear, leaving you with dry peely skin which can be cured with some lotion.
Simple derma lotion: I may have mentioned this lotion before in my blog, but I highly recommend it to anyone with skin problems such as dermatitis and excema. I've had dry skin since I was one and have been using a number of medical creams and lotions prescribed from the doctor, none of which made a difference. But with this lotion, you really can notice the difference in days. Cocoa butter also works. I've been using the Simple Derma care cream for nearly a year now, and it is working magic. Although it doesn't rid of any of the nasty marks and scars left as a result from itching! But that's where the cocoa butter comes in. I used to use cocoa butter before the Simple one came out and it made my skin look and feel smoother and flawless but after a while it stopped doing its magic. I read in a magazine once that your skin can get used to products and so its good to rotate, although others have argued that you shouldn't use too many different products and chemicals on your skin. However, I personally think these two products are a must for my skin!
Sudo Cream: Unfortunately, summertime isn't just for people, insects love the sun too. If you get bitten by an insect or get a little spot or pimple because of the sun, dabbing a little blob of Sudo Creme can speed up the healing process. Bites will become less irritable too. I had five bites on my shoulder, I don't know what from, but they were itchy and irritated me, so I dabbed on the creme overnight and here and there during the day and by magic the itching stopped. However, this was last week, the big spots I was left with are still there but I no longer feel the urge to scratch.
I hope this helps! Keep a look out for more tips!
