Here are a few more tips to help you look that extra bit this summer.
H2O
Most people would mistake the extra weight on their face for fat. However, the body usually retains water in the face, making it appear as being chubby. For someone to rid of chubby cheeks and a double chin, the salt intake needs to be reduced as salt causes more water to be stored in the body.
However, this does not mean that you should reduce the amount of water you drink. It has been proven that people can lose more weight by drinking 8 glasses per day. Sometimes the body sends the brain a signal telling us that it needs food when it actually needs water. Therefore, drinking 8 glasses each day stops us from over-eating.
Drinking water can also act as an aid for the bloating or puffiness in the face which makes it look fat. By drinking water, you will be reducing the amount of water retained in the face. You may even notice results within a few days.
Medications
Sometimes medications can contribute to adding a few extra pounds on your body as a result of it storing water. If you think you can do without the over the counter medicines for colds and sore throats, then it is recommended to do so. (Look out for a blog on home remedies coming soon)
However, it would be advised to consult a doctor before putting a halt on over the counter medications.
Toning your face
There are a number of steps you can take in order to tone and tighten your face without the need of surgery.
Exercising your face regularly (4-5 sessions a day) can help tone those face muscles and make your cheek bones appear to be sharper. The following are a few of the exercises that can be carried out:
- Smile: Smile with your mouth closed and pretend you need to hit your eye with each side of your lips. Hold it for 8 seconds and relax. Repeat 10 times.
- Suck in them cheeks: Act as though you're Victoria Beckham and suck in those cheeks. Hold for 8 seconds and relax. Repeat 10 times.
- Chin Tap: With the back (top) of your hand, tap the excess skin under your chin. This should help keep it firm. Do this for a minute or more.

- Creating a false shadow with the bronzer: Apply a bronzer along the jaw line and under the chin from the bottom of your ears to your chin. Ensure it blends in properly. Also add some along the top of your brow. Add a lighter shade on the chin.
- Hiding behind the hair: Keep hair on the sides of the face rather than swooping it back, you'd be amazed how much difference it can make to your face. Grow out that side fringe (bangs) and get a new style with lots of layers to drive the attention elsewhere.
